How to Freshen Your Home For Spring – Without a Headache
Spring is here, and it’s the perfect time to freshen up our homes while embracing the beauty of nature! Why not welcome the new season with a more natural approach? Here’s how to integrate essential oils for a chemical-free home. The start of spring can be a great time to get a fresh start in your home, it’s a perfect time to clean out all the cobwebs and give your space a fresh look, but it doesn’t have to be all scrubbing and dusting. Often times it is just a little bit of rearranging and adding some fresh accessories that can make your house feel like new again!
Scent is one of the most powerful things you can use to change the feeling of a room. Pure essential oils inside a diffuser can turn a room from cold and dreary to warm and welcoming. Find a springtime fragrance that you love (rose, geranium, lavender are popular choices) and bring it into your home by creating a room spray free of harmful chemicals and ditch the air fresheners artificial sprays! Create your own room spray by mixing water with your favorite essential oils (think lavender, lemon, or eucalyptus) in a spray bottle. Just a few spritzes will fill your space with refreshing scents!
Another way to spruce up your house for spring is by adding greenery. This could be as simple as a new wreath on your front door, a brightly colored planter for your porch or bringing in some flowers from the grocery store. Adding a bouquet of flowers is a simple and inexpensive way to add some color to your home that will instantly brighten up the space.
It’s a good idea to switch out your throw pillows and blankets for lighter styles as the seasons change. You can also refresh your table linens by changing out the runner and napkins. You can buy a fresh new set for your dining room at the store or you could even make a quick and easy DIY project by swapping out the old pillow covers with new ones in a fun spring pattern!
As winter gear is put away and warmer weather comes around, it’s a good idea to wipe down your kitchen counters and other surfaces that may have been covered in dirt or crumbs from winter cooking. Getting rid of the clutter and dust can make your kitchen feel so much more open and airy for springtime!
You can also add a pop of color to your kitchen with a few fresh fruit or veggie bowls. The bright colors of these bowls will immediately cheer up your kitchen. It’s also a good idea to replace any light bulbs that have burned out with brighter, more energy efficient ones. This will help to keep your electricity bill low while also allowing you to have more natural light throughout your space.
Lastly, it’s a good idea to sweep and vacuum the floors and stairs of your house. It’s always a good idea to invest in a HEPA vacuum cleaner so you don’t spread dust all over the place! You can also purchase a dusting brush and broom that will allow you to reach into corners and crevices where you normally wouldn’t be able to with your regular cleaning tools.
