Back when I was a General Manager in a restaurant, our website was held hostage by a designer. That introduced me to the world of tech. I learned how to rebuild our website and from there the tech bug took hold.
Years of learning and making pivots led me to today. I love taking ideas and making them functional for business owners so they can be positioned to compete in the world of modern marketing. Seeing them save time, increase sales and knowing I added value is what drives me.
What’s your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
My biggest accomplishment has been taking the idea of creating a platform designed for entrepreneurs, which was initially on a part time basis, to now working full time in my business.
The biggest reward is helping many other business owners create sales through digital channels. That’s a big win which took years to make it a reality.
What’s one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?
My challenge is finding balance, where to give my attention, time and energy. Many things pull us into different directions and not all are good or are the right item to take action on.
What are the top 3 tips you’d give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
#1 Sell the idea before you build the asset. Do this ethically so you know you can deliver on it. Too often, we spend months creating something no one wants to buy. Instead create a sales page and see if the market will pay for it.
#2 If you own it, no one can take it away from you. You can be fired, laid off, or be let go from someone else’s business. When you own something, it’s fully yours. So just get started, realizing you will pivot along the way.
#3 Create an LLC to create a wall between you and your business. It’s roughly $100 filed by the secretary of state where you do business. Get an EIN from the IRS for free, next open your business bank account.
