The Dr. Amy Sarow Commentaries

Noise-induced hearing loss affects an estimated 31 million people in the United States. Unfortunately, noise damage can cause permanent hearing loss and tinnitus.

However, we can mitigate the effects of loud sound exposure by making simple changes in our daily lives. For example, limiting the volume output in your phone settings prevents headphone volume from exceeding safe listening levels.

Think of your daily sound dose in the same way that you think about sun exposure. Limit your sound exposure or wear hearing protection.

Listen to the commentary segment below for more on protecting your hearing from noise damage.
